Nutravet continue to sponsor Cartmel Cricket Club

Nutravet are delighted to continue their sponsorship of Cartmel Cricket Club for 2013 season onwards.

Cartmel Cricket Club, founded 30 June 1852 by The Earl of Burlington for workers on his Estate, and today, his ancestor, The Lord Cavendish of Furness is the Club President.

The ground is unique, as it is the only one in the country situated entirely within a race course.

The 1970’s saw a host of County players grace the turf at Cartmel, amongst them: Farokh Engineer, Brian Statham, Norman Gifford, Alan Ormrod and Imran Khan, all playing in the benefit matches that were staged, however, in 1978 a publicised match between Cartmel CC and Worcester County CC was brought about by the friendship formed over the years between Basil D’Oliveira and the Club. He brought a team of 1st Class players to play the village boys as a thank you for the years of support. Over 3000 spectators watched that match – not bad for a village with only 500 inhabitants.

In 2002 Cartmel CC celebrated its 150th anniversary with matches, a celebration dinner and a book. Titled ‘Twix Cock and Fairy’

Nutravet sponsors WHVC in vaccinating 50,000 dogs against rabies in india

Nutravet is proud to sponsor Lisa Angus who is swapping vaccinating the patients of Wendover Heights Veterinary Centre (WHVC) for the street dogs of India.

Lisa will be working with the Mission Rabies team in India for 4 weeks, vaccinating 50,000 dogs against rabies in just 30 days. The project finishes on World Rabies day on 28th September 2013 and is in association with the Worldwide Veterinary Service and Dogs Trust.

India is the rabies hotspot of the world, where a child dies of rabies every hour, most often after being fatally bitten by an infected dog. Fear of rabies in India results in hundreds of thousands of healthy dogs being inhumanely destroyed every year. Mission Rabies is just the start of a sustainable long-term project in India to vaccinate and neuter dogs, to train local vets to continue rabies control and develop a National Rabies Network, all to save the lives of people and dogs and prevent the spread of the disease.

To read more or to support this fantastic cause please visit www.justgiving.com/Lisa-Angus. Every £1 donated will protect 4 dogs against rabies and save lives.

You can also see how Mission Rabies is helping the people and dogs of India by visiting www.missionrabies.com where you can follow the Mission Rabies blog or subscribe to e-mail updates of this extraordinary journey.

We wish Lisa and all those involved well on this amazing project.
